I'm still finding glitter in unexpected places from last year, and this year I'm happy to report that Mind Blowing Science wasn't a factor due to the absence of baking soda in my house. But there are still a few things I probably won't miss now that the kids are back at school after winter break. And they are:

1. Completing yet another "My Little Pony" sticker album.

2. Imparting my wisdom on the ever-crucial "Whose toy is this?" question.

2. Online troubleshooting for Apple TV.

4. Explaining why we can't buy that thing we just saw in the store.

5. Regretting the promise to watch all six "Star Wars" movies before we see "The Force Awakens."

6. Seeing how much fun everyone else is having during their winter break on Facebook.

7. Waiting for my in-laws to set up their Skype as my children sit expectantly by the screen.

8. Figuring out what food to cook so that it can be cast aside with the demand for leftover Advent calendar chocolate.

9. Convincing everyone to leave the house so we don't turn into vitamin D-deprived vampires.

10. Yelling "STOP PINCHING HIM" just as we turn out of the driveway.

11. Sharing the tiny little cookie that comes with my coffee.

12. Yet another scintillating discussion comparing Kylo Ren to Vader.

13. Explaining why we can't always win every game we play.

14. Realizing that we don't have any baking soda after the last of the flour is already in the mixing bowl.

15. Shakily making my way across an ice-skating rink while "I Will Survive" is playing.

16. Searching for the very tutu my daughter has decided she must wear before finding it in the laundry.

17. Explaining why Mommy isn't smiling right at this moment.
