Top Ten Best-Selling Ebooks -- Week of August 16

All it takes is a quick glance at the Digital Book World Ebook Best-Seller List on any given week to see how a TV or movie adaptation boosts best-selling ebook sales.

But once in a while the effect is especially pronounced.

If I Stay ended a 12-week run for The Fault in Our Stars when the Gayle Forman novel nudged John Green's aside a few weeks ago to take the No. 1 spot. The success of both titles tracks the big movie releases based on them.

Diana Gabaldon's Outlander is now in the No. 2 position, thanks in large part to the Starz series adaptation that debuted last week, suggesting TV now has as much clout as film to power popular ebooks up the list.

The top 10 best-selling ebooks for the week of August 16:
