Neel Kashkari's Stock Plummeting Like the Dow Jones

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Not long after Neel Kashkari was appointed head of the $700 billion bailout, Gawker dug up the guy's high school yearbook page with its Rush quotes and tacky picture of a Ferrari, exposing what they called Kashkari's "egocentric, douchebag nature." Then the bailout dude held a Q&A after a conference with financial executives where he was reluctant to actually provide any "A," leaving people "feeling cheated," according to the New York Post.

Last week, Kashkari appeared before Congress, where he was called a "chump" by Maryland Dem Elijah Cummings and criticized for the Treasury Department's decision to give money to banks and financial firms instead of buying up bad mortgages and helping homeowners as originally planned. And while Kashkari is fast-becoming the douchey, cheating, chumpy face of the ever-changing and increasingly confusing bailout, his boss Henry Paulson is laying low and speaking at fundraisers, setting Kashkari up as the fall guy in case this whole bailout plan blows up in their faces.

The only bright spot for the Interim Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Financial Stability in terms of public adoration came this week, when he made People magazine's "Sexiest Men Alive" issue. It wasn't just that they called him sexy. It was that they called him a Bailout GURU, which was the nicest thing--regardless of its actual truthfulness--that anyone's said about Neel Kashkari in a month.

Isn't all this cronyism a crime? Aren't there laws to handle this type of behavior? Aren't Hank and Neel engaging in criminal acts? It's $300 billion dollars, followed up with a refusal to act on the oiginal intent of the law which gave them the authority to hand out this money, and then a total refusal to use the remainder of the money unless it was for "consumer credit" - more commercial banking insiders. At this point, honestly, it's not a bailout it's a plunder and piracy operation. Watch it on CSPAN, they are guilty and they talk like it. They know that they gave out free money to friends, and now they're turning around and saying that they won't give out the rest of the money to solve the actual problem because they don't know if it will work (meaning they had no idea, will or intention as to how to do what they were supposed to do in the first place.) Impeach Bush Now and start the Obama presidency TODAY... Sounds extreme, but really, it's actually the most practical way to handle this ongoing sabotaging of our future. HALP!! SAVE OUR COUNTRY PLEASE!

All you have to do is go to CSPAN and watch his testimony...then you can judge for yourself and form your own opinion. Just watch where he shows up after Jan 20th...I am guessing some Big Bank on Wall Street. Sorry, but he did come off as a chump!

I wondered why he took the job, too -- it's obviously a set-up -- guess he got PAID!!!!

Too Bad Elijah Cumming didn't slap this man in the face for punking his nation. This guy is still employed right? We are paying this bum to treat us like this. Why?

If I were CashCarry, I'd give the appearance of a concerned buffoon, too, especially if I gave my friends billions of your dollars with no real oversight. I'd let congresscritters call me any name they wanted, because I just gave out tens of billions to my buds in the banks and did nothing about the mythical 'bailout'. not one receipt for a single penny of it.

Me and the crew will enjoy upgrading the swimming pools in our villas overlooking the mediteranean. Not to worry, we doing the best we can for ourselves with your money.

So the Wall Street bagman lugging taxpayer money from the U.S. Treasury to the banks is named Kashkari? Which, no matter what he tells us, should be pronounced exactly like it looks, "Cashcarry".

Is this a great country, or what?

Yeah, and if we'd known a month ago what we know now, we might have elected Caveat Emptor, Emperor.

Yup. It looked very much to be the case of setting up a fall guy. I wonder why he even took the job. Is it just me who found him being called a "chump" offensive? Looks like Hank knew all along that he will need to cover his posterior and recruited Kashkari.
