Elegance is timeless as we have tried to demonstrate it in the past 20 years. This Saturday we celebrated our anniversary in Milan to pay tribute to the city that we love and has given us so much opportunity.

It all started in the early afternoon on Saturday with the Spring Summer 2011 Menswear show scheduled for 1pm. While guests were arriving at Metropol, the excitement was at its peak backstage: last hair and make-up fix, final check on the clothes, models standing in line and waiting for the kick off sign.

The fashion story that we were about to tell, stars including the original Dolce&Gabbana bodycons, among them Tony Ward, Enrique Palacios, Christian Monzon, David Gandy, and Adam Senn.

The show opened with Annie Lennox at the piano performing live followed by a series of white suits and fishermen inspired silhouettes. A Sicilian tailored sensuality demonstration was revealed in the shadow of the sunset, enlightened by Annie's mesmerizing voice asking "Why". Our answer is to be found in clothes that celebrate heritage. 2010-06-21-MorganFreeman.jpgFor sure, "There must be an angel". But was he walking on the catwalk? Was he whispering in the air? The lightness of the clothes and the faded color palette contrasted with strong reference to tradition. Swimming costumes that could have been from Federico Fellini's movie I Vitelloni preceded by our signature black suit parade. The curtain closes.

Elegance is timeless as we have tried to demonstrate it in the past 20 years. The Dolce&Gabbana Man was true to himself yesterday, he had this sophisticated nonchalance that makes him unique. We hope that he is still as inspiring as he was 20 years ago; he is not older today, he has just grown in momentum.

Following the show, we headed straight over to Piazza della Scala for the exhibition and event. Despite the mild rain at the beginning of the evening, the event was spectacular. The exhibition, held in Milan's 16th century City Hall, Palazzo Marino, showcased our favorite memories and unforgettable moments attached to the creation of making beautiful clothing. The historic building spoke perfectly to the heritage of the brand.

We love technology and we always look to the future so the exhibition included the latest digital devices - ipads, touchscreens, ipods. The public was able to follow the event happening inside and on the red carpet on four large multimedia cubes, each over three meters tall and with 9 million luminous LEDs. Inspired by the Rubik's cube, the monitors projected images on an endless loop in the piazza. 2010-06-21-RachelWeisz.jpg

We wanted this anniversary to be in Milan to pay tribute to the city that we love and has given us so much opportunity. This is our way to say thank you. It was great to welcome our many friends from around the world. It is not only 20 years of fashion but 20years of meeting extraordinary people that have inspired us and stood by us. We love what we do and we do what we love. This celebration is the just an introduction of what is to come.
