It's the question that haunts so many of us in the quiet spaces we often avoid. The inquiry that disrupts sleep and rudely wakes us up, mid-slumber, 3:34 am. When the automation of the routine suspends, we are left vulnerable to the voice of discontent.

"Is this all there is?"

From a fearful perspective, this is the question we initially hear. But if we have the courage to sit with it and explore, we come to understand that the real meaning has been lost in translation. It is simply the soul saying, "You are capable of more. Expand if you wish."

"The world offers a vast amount of experiences to be had. But sometimes we forget that the ways in which we choose to live are not our only options. We tend to miss that alternatives may exist or when we do acknowledge this fact, we dismiss the notion as being silly or impractical.

When we live by rigid routines, our imagination atrophies. With time, our ideas and perspectives can become quite narrow. We may feel like our lives are boxed in as our options appear to constrict. However, this is only an illusion.

It is not unlike living in an airtight closet when the rest of a mansion is available.
Scared to leave the confines of a small space, we adapt to the circumstances no matter how uncomfortable they might be. As if air was running out, we tend to breathe in an even shallower manner trying to conserve what little air we feel remains.

Living in a limited fashion is not unlike the feeling of suffocation in a restricted space. We never attain enrichment since we never attempt to find more optimal conditions. We trade the overwhelming promise of infinite options for a guaranteed but stifled existence.

Moving with spirit's guidance requires us to extend our boundaries beyond our comfort zones. If we listen to it closely, we can move past the fear that paralyzes us in less than ideal situations. A whole world, where the air is limitless, awaits our participation.

Can you breathe deeply in your current space?"

"Is this all there is" signals the potential end of a cycle. It is the cue for expansion -- but only for those who are willing and courageous enough to admit to their depth of restlessness.
