Blood Sugar Solution Challenge, Day 13: Eat Often and in More Small Servings

Posted: 03/11/2012 11:26 am

Common sense says that if you skip lunch or only eat one meal a day, you will eat less and lose weight. Unfortunately common sense doesn't always make sense for your body. Learn what does make sense for your body in this video.

Plant in your kids, the seeds of greatness!

A few years ago I “developed” atrial tachycardia, and soon thereafter discovered my high BP, which was apparently the source of my splitting headaches! After a trip to the emergency room following a 45 min episode (atrial rhythm at 200+) and a visit to a cardiac doctor, I was convinced that a change in my eating habits would be… wise. Following a bunch of research, I designed an eating plan for me; within seven months I my weight dropped from 244 lbs to 185 lbs and my waist from 45 to 35 inches, both still a bit high for a five and one half foot human, but at least I no longer resembled a Weeble.

Five “meals” each day beginning with thick-cut uncooked oatmeal mixed in with plain, low fat yogurt, and ending with a salad sandwich and a large bowl of mixed salad. I was never hungry, had great energy, and felt years younger.

Two requirements: cut the white starches and red meat, and adopt the attitude that sees food as fuel more than a source of entertainment. It was based on the relationship of blood sugar and insulin… it worked then and continues to now. It is good to know the metabolism rate was also positively effected in the process… thanks.

Over 40 years ago, I was diagnosed as having hypoglycemia. I learned that I had to eat small, frequent, perfectly timed meals or I'd go into all the hypoglycemic s/s. Just the other day, on the Blood Sugar Solution plan of MH, I decided to purchase from Walmart an Accu Check glucose monitoring system. My fasting blood glucose is 97, just 3 points away from prediabetes (some say 83 is the cut off point, and therefore I am prediabetic). What is somewhat puzzling for me, eating the way I do on the MH plan, is that I have a flat curve response. My blood sugar level rises from 97 to 102 & then 104 after eating small amounts. I don't know whether the flat curve is due to eating small amounts throughout the day or to hyperinsulinema? I do know, that on day 14, I'm "craving" to eat the foods on plan every few hours, but I'm trying to stick to those foods that are on the alkalizing end of the spectrum. I've also added avocados, walnut oil, flax oil, hemp oil, and avocado oil mixed with a very small amount of ghee. Like someone responded to me on day 1, I'll need to add in more fats. I hope everyone is doing well on plan. I find my energy is up and my weight stable so far.
