32 Days Until the "Global March for Justice" in Washington, D.C. and Global Justice Marches around the USA and the World on 17January 2011
www.justicemovementnow.net

Good morning! I had over 10 hours of sleep last night, which was needed and great! It is a snowy morning here in Potomac, Maryland. The roads are covered with ice and a inch or so of snow. Even this soft bit of snow brings a crystalline morning stillness that feels like a wave of peace swirling through my soul!

We've completed our first week in birthing the Justice Movement. As a father of five sons, it feels very much like the birth of a new baby or onboarding of a new adopted child into the family. Everything transforms! and it is intense! and it is really fun!!

As part of the journey of overcoming hurdles of disbelief and choosing to take urgent and unreasonable action for peace and justice, there are three new distinctions that I would like to share with you: Committed Action for Justice; Live From the Future to the Present: Mobilizing Hope.

I. COMMITTED ACTION FOR JUSTICE NOW!

Goethe said:
"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back-- Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man [or woman] could have dreamed would have come his [her] way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now."

REQUEST 1: Please choose to take committed action for justice. Please join the Justice Movement. Please choose to lead in the Justice Movement by organizing Global Marches for Justice on 17 January 2011 In Washington, D.C., around the USA and the World. Please take unreasonable and relentless action in ways that work for you in your life.

For a prior discussion on what it means to be unreasonable, please see link:

Also, my adaptation of George Bernard Shaw's quote helps explain what I mean by being unreasonable:

Reasonable people adapt themselves to the World: the unreasonable ones persist in trying to adapt the World to themselves and all others. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable people.

II. LIVE FROM THE FUTURE TO THE PRESENT

Most human beings are living by putting the "past into the future", thus "living into the past." This leads to a "almost probable certain future" like what we have now. It will be more of the same headlines that we read today.

By choosing to live from the "future to the present", we are able then to create the possibilities of the future as we want it to be. We can take committed, unreasonable action for justice and then see how we can create the possibility of new kinds of headlines. We can explore the possibility of seeing more headlines like what we want to see in the World.

TODAY'S HEADLINES: "ALMOST PROBABLE CERTAIN FUTURE"
(daily from the city where I am)

20 January 2011: Washington, DC Justice Movement Charter for 2011-2011 approved by diverse representatives from 50 States and all walks of American life

17 January 2011: Global Marches for Justice

III. MOBILIZING HOPE

Reverend Adam Taylor recently published an amazing book called Mobilizing Hope: Faith-inspired Activism for a Post-Civil Rights Generation. While I am still reading this book, my favorite quote so far is:

"To the degree that rituals become a pattern, they can become a barrier to our discipleship and no longer serve as an act of devotion."

Please buy Adam's book if you want to learn more about Mobilizing Hope!

IV. COMMITTED ACTION TO SUPPORT BIRTH OF THE JUSTICE MOVEMENT

The Justice Movement (www.justivemovementnow.net) continues to build rapidly generate unimaginable breakthroughs! I will share the top 3 miracles that have occurred in the last 24 hours:

1. CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION, 4 JULY 2011, PHILADELPHIA, PA

Professor Kermit (Kim) Roosevelt III, a constitutional law scholar at the University of Pennsylvania School of Law agreed to serve on the "4 July 2011 Constitutional Convention Planning Committee."
More information about Professor Roosevelt can be found at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kermit_Roosevelt_III
http://www.law.upenn.edu/cf/faculty/krooseve/

Professor Roosevelt is the great-great-grandson of U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt. Professor Roosevelt's committed action for the Justice Movement was very inspiring to me as I'm reading Douglas Brinkley's "The Wilderness Warrior" about President Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt. My favorite quote from President Roosevelt is:

"Americanism means the virtues of courage, honor, justice, truth, sincerity, and hardihood--the virtues that made America. The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living and the get-rich-quick theory of life."

2. FAST FOR GLOBAL PEACE AND JUSTICE

As my personal committed action for today, I am choosing to go on a 32 day fast for peace and justice until the Global Marches for Peace and Justice on 17 January 2011. My weight this morning was 222.2 pounds. My ideal weight for my age and height is 175 - 180 pounds, so I am hoping that this commitment will support my personal health. I realize that there are health risks and I have requested others to help ensure my health. I also realize that we have to live each day as if it could be our last day, as it could be our last day! My wife is a doctor so she has agreed to make sure I stay healthy, as we are hoping to have a very long life.

I am also committed to my personal fast for peace and justice because I am practicing living my life as "self as community" The headlines above are enough to convince me that our U.S. and global communities are ailing, gravely ailing.

As a physician I was trained how to move rapidly to unreasonable action in order to save a life, as all human life is sacred. I personally believe that all human life and planet Earth is at grave risk. I believe that we are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). I believe our prognosis is grave. I believe that without miracles quickly, life as we know it will cease to exist.

Request #3: Please join me in a "Fast for Global Peace & Justice" as a personal commitment to global peace and justice. Consider fasting for an hour or a day. Consider fasting in honor of Christmas, Kwaanza, New Years Day or any other event that works for you in your life.
