Bush's accidentally-miked expletive made headlines on Monday in abridged and unexpurgated form as news outlets grappled with whether or not to publish the offending word. The New York Times, which had originally printed the word online, scrubbed it on second thought and replaced it with "a vulgarity." Now, that vulgarity has found a happy home —online and in print! — in Thomas Friedman's latest column. Today, for the first time, the New York Times has found the word "shit" fit to print.
