Eat The Press

Radar catches New York Post columnist Andrea Peyser in a big oops today as two versions of the same column ran in the paper on the same day. The first version was an anti-Obama column where she compared him to the Rev. Al Sharpton and called him "too left for New York," suggesting that Hillary Clinton had nothing to worry about from his potential presidential candidacy; the second version called him a "rock star" (under a headline that said he "ba-rocks" her world) and said that he just might be the antidote for "Hillary-the-inevitable." Hmmm.

Radar's got the breakdown of all the revisions (she scrapped most of the middle block to list cool things you oughta know about Obama, like, now!), plus Peyser's explanation for why she double-teamed on the piece: "I wrote a first-edition column based on my impressions of Obama, then re-wrote it after a live, 8:30 p.m. event in which I got a chance to see and hear the man in person." Which sort of helps when you're reporting on an event.

Related: This post as expressed in music. Well-suited to lazy afternoons on a porch.

Update: This post has been edited; the original version reflected the columns in reverse order, leading to iinaccurate analysis for which ETP apologizes.
