Farewell, Sweet 109th

"In the end, nothing became the 109th Congress so much as its going," said USA Today, summing up the grand accomplishments of the Do-Nothing Congress, which finally disbanded on Saturday after finding that no one did anything wrong, really, in the Mark Foley scandal, and also renaming a post office in Oklahoma. Things they didn't do: Finish spending bills, much about immigration, anything about ethics reform. After wrapping up their history-making term (fewest number of days at work in half a century!), they're finally outta there, leaving behind a light sprinkling of accomplishments (pointed out by Senator and vid-diagnostician Bill Frist yesterday in an op-ed in USA Today; needless to say, it was a short article) and an inspiring message for all Americans (many hands doing light work make light work). Last night on "The Daily Show", before welcoming departing Rhode Island Senator (and good sport) Lincoln Chafee to the show, Jon Stewart, too, bid a fond farewell to the 109th. See below:
