Uhm...we're not at all sure why CNN is leading with this piece of information. While it's true that a wise man once sang, "I'm afraid of people who like Catcher in the Rye," we feel a need to assure a frazzled nation that tens of thousands of students study the English language and its literature without their deep-seated feelings of self-loathing ballooning into homicidal impulses, save for those rare occasions when we are asked to read Middlemarch.
