Hero Dogs of 9/11 (VIDEO)

What's Your Reaction:

Since I spend so much time in the world of animal rescue, running Tails of Joy, my days are filled with people rescuing animals. Yet if truth be told, it is usually the animals doing the rescuing, figuratively, and sometimes, literally.

This is a video made by Kenn Bell for his site, Dog Files. "Hero Dogs Of 9/11" is a tribute to the more than 300 search-and-rescue dogs who helped in the rescue effort at the World Trade Center after terrorists attacked on September 11, 2001. These dogs help rescue teams not just around the country, but in so many disaster situations, around the world.

This September 11th I'll be hosting the Animal Acres 2010 Gala in Acton California. Because on a day known for loss of life, it's nice to save some.

A wonderful reminder of one of the many ways we can forge relationships with animals to benefit mankind. Thanks to the men and women and dogs who do the rescue work, to Kenn Bell for creating this tribute and to Elayne Boosler for choosing to share it with us here.

The video is lovely. The work you do for the dogs is lovelier.

Have you read W. Bruce Cameron's book A DOG'S PURPOSE? If you haven't, please allow me to take this moment to recommend it. It will make you happy. And weepy. And happy.

Thanks for the wonderfulness of yourself.
