The need for emergency food in America has reached crises levels. Food banks are experiencing the devastating effects of the economic downturn but, unlike big companies, they are receiving little attention as donations virtually stop. With a few clicks of the mouse, you can help feed fellow Americans.

Responding to this time of unprecedented need, musician Peter Buffett (son of one of the most noteworthy investors of our time), The Robin Hood Foundation, AmieStreet.com, and the Food Bank For New York City have united to help stock the Food Bank this holiday season. Please take a minute and download Peter Buffett's new holiday album, Star of Wonder, for free at amiestreet.com/fhb. When you do, AmieStreet.com will make a $1 donation, which will be tripled by Robin Hood, allowing the Food Bank to provide 15 meals for New Yorkers in need.

Buffett is an Emmy Award-winning musician who has authored commercials for MTV, CNN and Coca-Cola, scored part of Dances With Wolves, and collaborated with Grammy-winner and hip hop icon Akon.

The Food Bank For New York City works to provide assistance to the more than 1.3 million New York City residents who needed food assistance in 2007 -- a 24 percentincrease from 2004. Given the downward economic climate, compounded by skyrocketing food prices and escalating unemployment, the demand for food is reaching dangerously high levels.
