Let's Really Make This The People's Seat

Posted: 01/19/12 12:17 PM ET

This is a big day for our campaign: The day of our first-ever "money bomb" on the two-year anniversary of Scott Brown's special election to the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts. And we could really use your help to make our money bomb as big and successful as possible.

I hope you'll consider making a contribution of $5 or more today -- to help us make our money bomb a huge success!

Remember two years ago, all the talk about "the People's Seat?"

And how that special election held two years ago today would ensure the people of Massachusetts elected a leader -- a trustworthy steward of "the People's Seat"?

That's what we were promised, but it's not what we got. Forbes Magazine calls Scott Brown, "one of Wall Street's favorite Senators."

I am running for the United States Senate because I think it's time we take the "People's Seat" back from Wall Street and other powerful interests. But I need your help -- today, on the anniversary of Scott Brown's special election -- to help us take back this seat for middle class families in Massachusetts.

I won't sugar coat it: Scott Brown has an enormous campaign war chest -- twice what we have in the bank -- and we're still fighting tooth and nail to narrow the gap. The powerful interests that are lining up behind his campaign have his back because, as a U.S. Senator, he has had theirs.

What we accomplish together today will show the world we have the grassroots organization and support to win this election, no matter what Scott Brown and Wall Street throw at us.

Thank you for being a part of today's big money bomb!

Does anyone else think it's somewhat hypocritical of Warren to suggest she's not taking money from wealthy donors, especially those outside of MA? I'm all about protecting the middle class, but she advocates class warfare. Far too radical.

Please consider your source for that information.
No one here is attacking rich people simply because they are rich.

Entrenched power should be everyone's enemy, whether you consider yourself liberal or conservative.
As far as I know, the only people who are complaining about "class warfare" are those politicians who's votes have been bought by a privileged few. They serve no one except looters who wish to be left free to exploit us. And not all of those bad politicians are Republicans.
Ms. Warren has a good record of advocacy for the consumer, for fairness and for returning balance to our society.
Can your sources cite anything she said that is incitement to hatred of a particular class?
They can't. And they don't want you to know who they really work for -- it isn't you or me, and it isn't people that you or I would consider wholesome, nor people who believe in our Republic or democracy, nor people who ever play fair, not by a long shot.

She worked as a consultant for Traveler's Insurance and she helped the insurance agency fight claims from people exposed to Asbestos. Hardly a voice for the people. And it's not contested that both Warren and Brown are receiving cash from outside MA. This is predicted to be one of the most expensive Senatorial campaigns in MA history, so the big donors on both sides are taking note. And as far as her class warfare stance, she claimed to have laid the intellectual groundwork for the OWS movement, which is decidedly class-belligerent (the 99% v. the 1%).

Looks like there is great envy afoot with these Republicans.

Elizabeth Warren is leading an indomitable charge.  She is the real deal.

The POTUS was also supposed to be the 'peoples' seat. Good luck with that when you take in as much money as that you will have to pay the piper.

Case in point our president came in on a populist platform and turned his back on it once in office. Now we have to try all sorts of things to make him accountable. One such initiative is Nader's, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnD-3BCqjxo&feature=related.

Look at Walker, another man who exceeded his mandate. All seats in public office are people's seats.

You don't have to be a Progressive to support Elizabeth Warren. You simply need a sense of outrage at the gross inequalities the 1% has foisted on America. I doubt you will find one person voting for Scott Brown who can actually defend his record- such as it is. Scott Brown doesn't even know what he supports- literally- but he does know how to cash the checks.

I find it deplorable that candidates are allowed to ask for money in this venue.

They should completely deregulate the banks, so the vultures turn to each other and eat each other up, and create a breach where the people do not have their money connected to the Goldman Sachs of the world and are not globalized. And then when the vultures gobble each other up, their greed in turn ends up failing them and they cease to exist. Instead of regulating them, by propping them up with trillions in bailouts and creating the ultimate Zombie Bank Superstate.

Absolutely. You have my support now and when you (hopefully) run for President in the future.

She's got good ideas and seems like an honest person ,but if she wants to really make a difference she ought to run for president ,She would be able to at least get something done , We need someone in the presidency that is an upright person willing to work for the American people , Obama needs to be put in a primary so we have the choice, If she decides to run for president she'll get my vote and donation ,her running for senate would be a waste of her time and talent

Yes, Warren for President. If she has to linger in the Senate, she may get corrupted. I definitely would vote for Ms. Warren for President.

I think Obama has good ideas and is an honest person and I don't see him getting anything except watered down bills through. Why would she be any different?

Sorry Liz, as of now you do not have my vote. And I know many people out here in Central Massachusetts who you have yet to win over.

Hen you return the money coming out of state big donors: hedge funds, Hollywood, silicon valley billionaires, I may consider giving you my money. Your financial reform did not address the big issue of splitting banks. Did nothing to Freddie and Fannie. You created a new agency that will be full of industry people writing new rules without accountability to people. The way to do it is to have congress write some basic rules to be enforced by already existing agencies. The financial crisis happened because our regulators, the Fed, and congress along with W failed to do their job. The evidence was there in front of them!!

This is a good crit in outline form. He touches on a number of relevant issues.
It is not out of bounds by any standard as you seem to imply.

If you have a point or two that you think puts this in better context, I'd be willing to listen.

Made my donation already. It's a shame that having the most money is such an advantage, but we need Warren so I'll give as much as I can from now until the election. And work for the campaign.

It is exciting to have Elizabeth as a candidate. I will give as much as I can, in money and time, to help get her elected.

I just want to see the senators who were so rude to her when she was testifying before them, have to acknowledge her as an equal.
Is that to much?

Our media lets the Democrats get away with taking huge sums of money from Wall Street while the Republicans are demonized for doing the exact same thing.

She's seriously intelligent, she exudes sincerity, and she has a track record of integrity. Oh, and in case you weren't paying attention, she's been correct about virtually everything. All you conservatrolls will have to choke on it, because she's going to win. I'll donate ten times if I have to.
