"Miracles come in moments. Be ready and willing." -- Dr. Wayne Dyer
Have you ever heard the phrase "prayer is talking to God and meditation is listening"? I believe there is a certain power and magic that occurs when we talk or listen to "God."
Whether you hold religious beliefs or you are more spiritual, I often hear people refer to God as a "higher power," a divine energy or universal consciousness. However this blog isn't a debate on who or what God is and how to define the presence of God.
How you find God is sacred and personal to you. We each have our own concepts, faiths and connections to a divine source.
In my childhood I remember saying several prayers before I went to bed every night, some of which were the "serenity prayer" and the parts of which resonated most with me were, "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference."
Such a powerful prayer. It was my go-to "mantra," prayer and affirmation whenever I felt down or worried. I would surrender my worries, fears and know that the universe would somehow take care of it.
I also remember feeling more calm, at ease and present whenever I said that prayer. Prayers are petitions to a higher source, universal energy or God. They are strong clear statements of what you are needing help with or asking for guidance on.
These sacred moments and conversations with God and the universe are what led to discover my purpose, pay attention to synchronistic signs and attract "angels" in my life that helped guide me on my journey.
When I was 13 I remember looking up at the stars and telling the universe I needed help. I needed a way out of the life I was born into. I knew I had a great purpose here and I was meant to fulfill it. My family was unhealthy and dysfunctional. Many times I felt unsafe and scared for my life and other times I struggled with finding purpose and wondered "why me?"
Whenever I felt scared or sad I would say these prayers. I would write to my higher self, to God, to the universe begging for answers. As time went on, the universe heard me and responded.
I manifested a safer home with my friend's family who became my legal guardians for two years before graduating high school. The school nurse looked out for me and became an angel in my times of emotional distress. She helped me believe in myself again and nursed me back to life as I made steps to heal.
Fast forward 10 years I joined the military straight out of high school, moved to New York after and started a career as an intuitive and spiritual medium. Never would I imagined this is where I'd be today but each new step I took the universe sent me a sign to guide me.
Walking the path of the unknown is quite scary when you have no one beside you.
However, I feel like God sends us signs and people to help us on our way and pick us up when we are down.
Wherever you are in your life, whether you are in a transition, letting go of something or someone, grieving the loss of a loved one or struggling with purpose know that there is a greater purpose for this experience.
Surrender it to the universe. Write a letter asking for help. Pay attention to the signs and people sent your way.
We are never alone in life. Even in my moments of grieving the loss of my family in an emotional sense, I found God in people, prayers, nature and most importantly in myself.
I am a firm believer that we are given experiences not to break us but to build us. For when we get through it we will be the messengers of light and inspiration to someone else who needs it.
Those nights of talking to God and staring at the universe asking for help showed me that anything is possible with enough faith and power. We just have to believe.
Find your power and let it guide you.
