Passion surprises. One doesn't search. It can happen to you tomorrow. -- Isabelle Adjani

Passion is that one thing that lights us up, brings fire to our soul and basically gives us a meaning for existence, right?

Wrong.

Passion is a powerful energy that may spark a fire into our core but it isn't the answer to our existence.

Personally, I think passion is overrated. I see so many people torturing themselves to find their "one true passion" as if they are trying to find their one true love. The answer won't be found in the search.

Because passion isn't actually going to give you purpose.

Have you ever heard that phrase, "When you stop looking it finds you"? I feel like we as a consciousness are changing and the search is no longer about passion and finding that one niche to keep you sane through life's challenges.

I used to be one of those people who believed once you find your passion you will find your purpose. But through the years I have learned that passion isn't purpose. They are very different from each other.

Passion is something that keeps you up late at night reading a good book, talking to someone you love or experiencing a beautiful moment in time. It is what brings fire to our lives throughout the day, week or month. But passion isn't purpose. It is what makes us feel alive and joyful.

So then what is purpose? What is the meaning for existence? Personally, I believe we humans were meant to help each other and that our purpose is to serve in some way to one another. Sounds cliche, I know.

But have you ever meant someone who changed your life? Or heard an inspirational story that knocked you off your seat and moved mountains within you to the point where you started changing your life too?

Perhaps those stories brought passion to your life and became a cure for your blues. Whatever it did, it created purpose for you to keep going and have faith that in the end it will work out.

So the next time you think searching for passion, don't. Let passion find you. Instead do more of what makes you feel alive. And if you don't know what lights you up or brings joy to your heart then allow yourself the freedom to explore and enjoy life for what it has to offer.

Perhaps in the exploration you will discover passion was all along within you. Perhaps you will find more purpose for your life than you thought you knew of. Either way, this isn't it darling.

You have so much more to go. Enjoy the journey.
