Last month Endless Simmer brought you our list of America's top 10 new sandwiches.

Many of you commented on our original story to tell us which of your favorite innovative sandwich should have been included. We chose the ten tastiest suggestions and now present an encore list: America's Top 10 New Sandwiches, as selected by Endless Simmer and Huffington Post readers.

10. Steak Poutine Pita - U Needa Pita - St. Catharine's, Ontario
1 of 11
What could be better than poutine, Montreal's signature street food? How about throwing that poutine - cheese curds, fries and gravy included - on a pita, so you can actually eat it while walking down the street? Add some steak and you've got yourself one helluva sandwich. And yes, for the sake of U Needa Pita, we're including Canada as part of America this one time only.

They all look great of course, but it seems that every one of those sandwiches is way way over your entire daily recommended intake of fat, sodium, cholesterol, calories, etc. etc.

AND one helluva heart attack. Good thing this is in Canada. Your health insurance is free.

Wow. I'm breathing heavy and drooling. Shouldn't read something like this or watch food porn when you're hungry.

Of course Canada is in America! So are Mexico and a whole lot of other countries.

The country in between them is the United States of America, and it does not encompass all of America, which includes two continents: North America and South America.

all of this reminds me of a restaurant in SF near Duboce Park which used to serve -- oh heck, i can't remember what it was called. The Overkill? The Mess? i've heard these names for crazy combination of food at other restaurants, but my poor aging brain can't remember what they really called it, or even the name of the restaurant where poor drunk-last-night citizens used to line up for breakfast. It's been 15 years and the owners have probably moved on to better things than breakfast.

The ingredients? First they fried you up a batch of their signature home fry potatoes, with peppers and onions and some kind of marinade that they scooped them out of. Then, this went into an oven-proof bowl and a fresh pico de gallo type salsa was piled on top. very hot. Cheddar cheese was added, and if you requested, one or two eggs broken raw on top. At that point, the whole thing went under the broiler for about 5 minutes until the egg whites cooked but yolks remained runny.

I always got my whatever with one egg. I've been to four star restaurants since then, and never (well, almost never) had an experience similar to my funky bowl of stuff. I ate this almost every day for a few years, and was slim and healthy as a horse then, although I admit I have hypertension now, at 50.

Spaghetti Western on Haight? I think they had that amazing potato dish you're describing. Just down from the Horseshoe.

oh dang, poppy seed coleslaw? you just inspired me to go make my own. you reminded me of the main ingredient of my grandma's coleslaw that I'd forgotten! she made the most incredible coleslaw, and I have come close to duplicating it (she had no written recipes) with a two-day cabbage marination under light pressure in olive or peanut oil, red wine vinegar, salt, and freshly ground mix of white and black pepper. I'm violating my rules about in-season veggies to go and get a cabbage now and add the poppy seeds, which I keep on hand to sprinkle on bread and for special-occasion fillings.

the monte cristo is not a "new" sandwich. Hello?

But, hey I got this great new sandwich.... it's called a PB & J. I am sure it will be the next big thing.

jim's steak out is the 4am go to spot in buffalo once the bars close. the staff wear "i see drunk people" tshirts. their steak hoagy is excellent but you can also opt for the tamer turkey burger if you do not wish to completely clog the arteries. they receive high marks for always making sure that your turkey burger is actually cooked thoroughly.
