At Endless Simmer, we really only travel for one reason -- new things to stuff our faces with! But we're done with Rome and Paris. Here are our 10 favorite new destinations that are worth the trip just for the grub.

10. South Korea

For one of Asia's smallest countries, South Korea puts its giant neighbors to shame, at least in the kitchen. From bi bim bap to bulgogi to kimchi with melted mozzarella, this is some of the funkiest food around that still manages to be tasty.

Great list. I am not surprised about Puerto Rico making the list, Puerto Rico has some delicious cuisine. To know more about Puerto Rico..http://www.puertoricoistheplace.com

A visit to a lechonera (restaurants that serve pork dishes and pork filled sausages) in the mountains of Puerto Rico is a treat not to be missed. These small pigs are fed with different kinds of tubers: yams, potatoes, cassva. the variety of dishes and pies are as close to food heaven as you can get. And if you like embutidos (sausages) there are about five different types. It is a pity that these are not exported to the USA.

I'm glad to see that England made the list. We were in Paris and England last September. The food in England was amazing. Every meal had tons of vegetables. I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. Plus, the hard ciders made from apples and pears are not to be missed. And the clotted cream ice cream and the very yellow butter. Oh, I miss England.

What, no Jamaica. The food their will rival anywhere in the world.

You missed Indonesia. Thanks to Mollucas --the spice islands, 14th century merchants pour in from Europe, India, Arab, China and brought along their gastronomic traditions.

The country's a true gastronomy wonderland. Malaysia..? *scoff*

Green tea ice cream is a 'must try' in Japan.

Hold on, Sri Lanka? I spent 2 months there recently and rode the trains through the center of the country and saw the guys selling the food pictured here. Most likely it was the exact same one. The choice of food is limited to fried chickpeas or fried lentils. You think being a stones throw away from India some of its cuisine might rub off on Sri Lanka, well they must have wanted to show everyone their independence and went in an opposite direction. Friendly people, over-priced hotels and a 2 on a scale of 10 for food.

I can't afford to travel to any of these places. I was hoping they would say Western Wisconsin.

Just returned from the Lowcountry (Charleston, South Carolina) the diversity of restaurants and quality of food is absolutely amazing

It's odd to see this article mentioning Malaysia and not Singapore. In Singapore you can easily find quality and authentic food among the country's 4 major ethnicities: Chinese, Thai, Indian, Malay. Since there are plenty of Australians/Europeans in Singapore you can also find good European/fusion restaurants as well.

Of course, practically speaking you would want to eat "local" foods without getting sick, without doubt Singapore is the best bet there.

Singapore is a small version of Malaysia. It's also more expensive. There's not much difference between the two, except you can buy chewing gum in KL.

Agreed! It costs much more to enjoy a good meal in S'pore while in M'sia, even the cheapest street food is awesome. You do get a good spread of various cuisines in S'pore but when it comes to local fare, M'sia has much more to offer. Every 1 of its states has something unique to offer-many of which can't be found elsewhere.

Definitely agree with Peru, Japan, Korea! Panama - way too much fried food. Gets old after a day. But Panama City does have fab restaurants. But England????

And a couple comments on Peru - its coca tea and you missed ceviche and pisco sour which were my favorites.

How about Turkey? Being from there I'm a bit biased but I think India needs to be on any food lover's list.

I say Argentina should have made the cut! It's not just about the "carne" here; I'm convinced it's got the best "helado" (ice cream) in the world. http://goodairs.tumblr.com/post/2625064385/ice-cream-parlors-in-buenos-aires

if we are talking food, I can't believe France is not on the list. it's hand down the most delicious place... even a little road size cafe puts most american restaurants to shame. and what I love about French food, is that it's not really pretentious, like French restaurants in the US make it. It's down to earth Mediterranean food. oh, and Greece... my goodness, that pretty much is heaven too.

i went to south korea a few years back on a tour. not the most tourist friendly of trips and if it weren't for convenience store food and ice cream i'd have starved and/or dehydrated from all of the red things i had to eat. the dried then grilled squid and the blood sausage were amazing though.
