Save the flowers and jewelry for another day. If you want to be Endless Simmer's valentine, you'd better have something tasty to seduce us with. And we're not talking heart-shaped candies.

With a little help from our pals at Bakers Royale, Cook to Bang, and Macheesmo, we present the top 10 Valentine's Day desserts we'd like to make love to. Click below each photo for the full recipe.

I don't understand. I have always been told that putting salt directly on yeast will kill it. Is this not true? These look sooooooo delicious!

How is the nectarine-blueberry thing ideal for Valentine's Day? Nectarines are out of season; the ones in stores now are inherently sub-standard. They have to be harvested well before peak ripeness so that they don't spoil during the long journey from Chile.

You put that much sugar and fat in my tummy, and the only thing I am going to be loving is my pillow.

Definitely go with chocolate, but, well, most of these recipes seem likely to promote indigestion instead of romance. How about go really basic with warm chocolate sauce http://ozarkhomesteader.wordpress.com/2010/02/03/chocolate-sauce-in-1-12-minutes-or-less/ and fresh strawberries and other fruits to dip in it?

Any of those creamy fillings or icings properly applied would increase the oral enjoyment of the event!

I read through this with trepidation, only to be surprised with a pop tarts recipe! How wonderful! I haven't had a pop tart since I was diagnosed with a soy allergy, and I definitely miss them!

Love this post and I'm with you. Forget flowers--buy chocolate! I've been blogging about "Great chocolates I have known and loved" in nobluehair.wordpress.com since Feb. 1 and including an inspiring chocolate blogger each day as well. We cannot eat, talk or write about chocolate too much this month!
