One of our favorite things about the temperature dropping is the thought of popping into a cozy tavern for some warming winter cocktails. But let's face it -- seasonal drinks like hot toddies and hot buttered rum are more appealing in theory than in practice. (Mmm...whiskey and water. Yeah, not really.) So for this year's holiday party season, we're kicking it up a notch -- we asked seven of our favorite bartenders to share their most creative updates of classic winter drinks.

My recipe as follows:
in a medium saucepan bring 4cups of water to a boil. Throw in 4 teabags that you like. (We prefer a herbal tea, apple cinnamon or orange spice works great) 3-4 shots of your favourite brandy or cognac. Stir and let brew in the saucepan for about 5 min. Stir in 2 tsp lemon and/o orange. Pour into mugs. Add a cinnamon stick and honey to taste. Yields 4 servings
By doing it this way, its "legal" for the kids. (All the alcohol is cooked out.) If its for adults add the brandy to the tea after its already poured into the mugs.
This has worked well for my entire family, and we're on our way to recovery.
Here we go –
8-10 mint leaves
6-8 cranberries
2 oz Aged Rum (Appleton worked great for me)
¾ oz Falernum
¾ oz limejuice
¼ oz simple or maple syrup
In a mixing glass, muddle mint & cranberries, add rest of ingredients. Shake and strain over ice in a glass and garnish with fresh mint.
you'll need
Tuaca, Cinnamon Stick, Hot Cider (packet mix is ok), whipped cream
shot of Tuaca mixed with the cider & cinnamon stick, top with whip cream
puuurfect on a cold night
2oz good gin
Juice of 1/2 lemon
Boiling water
Place gin and lemon in a coffee mug. Add water. Much better than it sounds and it was mentioned in the Sherlock Holmes stories.
