As it is the end of year, I have been reflecting on what has unfolded in business. This created a list of the 13 things I did (and continue to do) that helped me create the business of my dreams.

1. I ALWAYS believed in myself.

Even when things were not going 'right' (aka... how will I pay this bill tomorrow?), I still had a deep knowing this was my path and that I would find a way (and I always did). I knew that the universe would provide for me because I was capable.

2. I TRUSTED in the path, even when I couldn't make sense of it.

I always knew (and still do), that I have a purpose and that things would work out even in the midst of the craziness that to others might look like I am 'failing' or 'going no where'. I knew the universe wouldn't let me down and that more importantly, my passion, skills and talents would be put to good use in my lifetime.

3. I HUSTLED my butt off.

I've yet to meet an entrepreneur who hasn't hustled to get to where they are. Success loves speed. The faster you can get the right things done, the faster you can move ahead.

4. I remained a STUDENT of my craft.

I continued to learn more about marketing, sales and coaching. I never thought (nor do I now) that I know it all, because I don't. I am constantly learning from others and learning from my own actions.

5. I took ACTION on what I learned.

Learning things is one thing, but truly knowing it comes from taking action on it. It's no good to you if it is in your head. This I learned quickly and therefore, I took massive action on what I learned.

6. I DETACHED emotionally.

This was one really hard for me, especially in the early days. However, the better I got at emotionally detaching from the results of my business, the easier it was to fix problems (and if you are in business, you will have problems). The faster you can get into solution mode, the faster you can succeed.

7. I SURROUNDED myself with others like me, who believed in me.

I learned quickly that your environment matters and so do the people with whom you hang around with (especially on a regular basis). I specifically networked and became friends with other entrepreneurs and successful people. Some of them are now my best friends, allies and supporters.

8. I BELIEVED what I wanted to believe.

Once I realized (and actually believed) that a belief is just a thought you keep thinking, I got to the business of creating empowering meanings out of everything that was happening to me. I took 100% responsibility for myself and my actions and knew that whatever was flowing into my experience was because of my alignment and focus. The more I focused on what was working for me and how the universe was bringing me everything I needed to be successful, the happier and more successful I became.

9. I TOLD myself how awesome I was, everyday.

If you want to change your beliefs and feel worthy of success, you must wire your brain to think this way. I discovered the patterns of thought that were literally blocking abundance from coming to me and worked on them, CONSTANTLY. I still do this. I do not take for granted my mindset and I know that it is like a muscle... if you stop working out, it will go limp and not work as well. Your beliefs are the same. You must work on them everyday and so, I do.

10. I became okay with CHANGE.

I quickly realized that as I changed (which has been a lot over the years), my business would change, too. I became okay with that. I wasn't scared of having to do things differently, innovation or trying new things. I accepted that it is part of the deal and that the faster I became good with it, the faster I could implement change and get on with it.

11. I got CLEAR on what I really wanted.

There was a time when a lot of things were not working. That is because I wasn't happy. I wasn't happy because I was out of alignment with who I really am. This came from being unclear as to what I really wanted. Once I recognized this and got clear on what I wanted, things got much better.

12. I trusted my INTUITION and followed it.

I have countless stories of how I made decisions that only made sense by the feeling that I had about them. This is a skill that I have developed over time and the more I do it (remember, I practice everyday), the more things work out for me. Nobody knows your business or yourself better than you. When you listen to yourself (your heart, not your head), the universe brings you what you want in the fastest, easiest path.

13. I took TIME OFF when I needed it.

Many things have happened over the last few years that took my focus from my business. Each time however, I knew that I needed to slip away. Could I be further along? Maybe. But who the hell cares? Life is amazing and it's unfolding at the perfect pace. As long as I am happy with where I am, that is all that matters. Letting go of caring what other people thought (or what I thought they thought, not that they were necessarily thinking that), was a freeing experience. I highly recommend it.
