Ever been hit with a freight train of bricks? I’m talking, all of a sudden and out of the blue? In March of 2016, life as I knew it was forever changed. I’ve always been a fairly healthy person with no major issues, until I was diagnosed with lupus this past spring. The entire ordeal was extremely painful and resulted in 50 pounds dropping from my frame. It was one of the scariest and most beautiful things I’ve ever experienced. I wouldn’t wish that pain on anyone, but I learned some golden lessons along the way.

1. Love On Your Family HARD. Your family are the ones who will be there for you through the thick and thin. Turn off social media a little bit more. Honor your family and cherish the time you have with them by putting the phone down and being present.

2. Take Care Of Your Body, You Only Get One. Proper nutrition is the universe’s best medicine. Drink plenty of water and eat your veggies. Make sure you are getting adequate sleep. This is especially important fro entrepreneurs. Remember - You can get another business, you can’t get a another body.3.

Don’t Stress Over Anything. Stressing out and worrying about all of the horrendous things that could happen won’t add any value to your life. As a matter of fact, stress actually robs you of life. Don’t allow fear to hold you hostage. You were created for resiliency. As Long As You Are Breathing, You Can Bounce Back From Anything

4. Do What You Love NOW. Putting off your big dream, your goals, and vision for “someday” is awfully bold. Each one of our days are numbered and we aren’t privy to the amount. Decide that you are going to no longer postpone your dreams, but live them out now. Want to travel the world? Start now. Have you been dreaming of owning your own business? Get started.

5. If You Can Conquer The Enemy Within, The World Outside Can’t Stop You. When a person has autoimmune disease, it means that the body is essentially attacking itself. Sometimes it attacks in subtle ways that are not easily identifiable. Other attacks are vicious and painful. When you have autoimmune disease it’s important that you watch what you put into your body both from a nutrition and mental standpoint. It’s one thing to have an external enemy, it’s another to have an enemy within. Your enemy within may not be autoimmune disease - it may be fear, insecurity, or scarcity mindset. Whatever your enemy is, if you can conquer that inner enemy, you’ll soon realize that you are limitless and the world outside can’t stop you.

Having autoimmune disease has taught me to love, live, and fight harder than ever before. Surviving such a traumatic experience has taught me to live more boldly and confidently than ever in my life and business. Here’s the good news ― you don’t have to wait for illness to strike in order to live your very best life. You can choose to do so right now.
