After fifteen plus years in the workforce working in sales at every level from telemarketing, inside sales, outside sales, and sales management I decided to quit my job and start my own business.

Up until that point I gained as much sales experience as I could, believed in everything I sold, learned as much as I could to better my craft and add value to everyone person I helped.

However, there was this unending desire and gut feeling that wouldn’t ever go away to “do my own thing” or create my own consulting business in the internet space where I can sell my services directly to people as I had proven in the past to people that got to know, like, and trust me with what I can offer their business.

The one question I asked myself to make the leap was “What’s the worst that could happen?”. This one question really gave me the confidence to move forward provide my two weeks notice and start my entrepreneurial journey.

After asking myself this question I realized the worst thing that could happen is what I had already been doing. Meaning if I failed to sell my own services or brand I could just get another sales job as I had in the 15+ year sales career at many other .com and internet based companies or in something I believed would add value to someone’s business or life.

That was 2009, and now in 2016 I can say that is still one of the best decisions I have made. I’m still the founder of DIAP Media and now an internet entrepreneur with over 750 domain names and internet brands that I have built over that time by using my sales experience and client service skills to work for myself.

And to this day, when I need to make a gut life decision I turn to that one question.

What’s the worst that could happen?

See this one question isn’t just for the people that are trying to quit their job, or decide if they should become an entrepreneur. It’s a question that could guide you in any life decision where you have that gut feeling that you know you should act on.

So next time whether you have a small or big decision to make, whether it’s about family, love, wealth, happiness, money, or your career, ask yourself;

What’s the worst that could happen from taking a leap of faith, going with your gut, and jumping into a decision you feel you need to make.
