The goal of this article is to tell you about the 5 ways amazing managers deal with their people. And I am writing it because the reality is bad. According to a Gallup study, about 50% of adults leave a job to get away from the manager and poorly managed work groups are on average 50% less productive and 44% less profitable.

In our economy, labour costs will amount to 50% or more of your expenses, but the good news is that a good employee always adds to the bottom line.

In my country, there was a big fire in a club in Colectiv Club, on 30th of October of 2015. 64 young people died because our leaders lack responsibility for their people. And that is a thing that amazing leaders do differently with their people.

1. They show responsibility for their people

The leader is always in charge for the well being of other people. According to Forbes, employees who felt overworked, tired and burned out were 31% more likely to think to look for another job, then their colleagues who were comfortable in their position.

As a manager, you are responsible and everybody look at you. It is very important not to expect responsibility from others if you don’t take it.

Worldwide, everybody say that we have a leadership crisis, but my honest opinion is that we have a responsibility crisis.

2. They create trust

The lack of trust in a team creates stress and releases a hormone called cortisol. The release of cortisol creates high arterial pressure, less cognitive ability, more agresivity and less sexual activity, so trust is a very important thing great managers create.

Small businesses lose 2.37 trillion pounds worldwide to worker fraud, so it is important to employ people who are trustworthy. There are 2 elements to build trust: be a person of character and be a competent manager.

How do you think your future would look if you had a team with better trust?

3. They learn soft-skills

As a leader, you have to understand that is not about you anymore. Steve Smith, the author of „Managing for Success: Practical advice for managers”, after 42 years of experience at 15 different companies say that too many technical people achieve supervisory positions because of their technical or professional abilities, not because any managerial competence or skill.

It is very good to be an appreciated expert and now it is more important to learn how to interact with your people, and learn how to explain them and motivate to achieve a common vision.

How would your activity look if your people would follow you?

4. They show appreciation

Employees who get low recognition have 11% more chances to leave the workplace. A 4.000 employee questionnaire by AS Institute revealed that over 56% of people say that their work is not appreciated. I am sure you appreciate your people, but how often do you show it?

Ask them: What can I do so you will feel more appreciated?

How would your life would look if you would be more appreciated?

5. They show their human side

It is important to remember ourselves and to our people that we all are humans. Just because your are the boss, does not mean that your mouth doesn’t stink in the morning. Show your humanity and vulnerability if you want to become a superstar for your people.

It is a manager’s job to train, empower and motivate the team. If you say you can’t find the right people, maybe you should do something differently.
