Lindsey McKeon is putting on a police uniform. Known for her role on One Tree Hill and Supernatural among others, her new role is Officer Jen Mitchell on the TV series Training Day. The show is based off the 2001 Academy Award-winning film that starred Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke. The TV series stars Bill Paxton as Det. Frank Rourke and Justin Cornwell as Kyle Craig. According to the CBS show site, the series takes place 15 years after the events of the movie. It is about a young, cop (Cornwell) who goes undercover in an elite squad of the LAPD where he is partnered with a veteran detective (Paxton). Jen Mitchell (played by McKeon) is Craig’s former partner. “They have a real care and affinity towards one another.”

McKeon explains that there is differences between the movie and TV show. “There is a lot of action, a lot of push and pull between the two lead characters.” she explains. “Bill Paxton's character is more likable, the lines that he crosses seem to be more blurry than in the original Training Day.” She states. McKeon also eludes that there will be an exciting twist for Kyle, that forces him to need Frank.

This was a McKeon’s first time working with the cast and crew and she had a blast. “Everyone was awesome. We all had a blast, even the producers.” McKeon states. ”It's always wonderful being a part of a series from the ground up, it's everyone's first time together and it really allows time to bond.”

McKeon has many other acting opportunities in the works and she looks forward to sharing them soon. Besides her acting work, she has just launched a new venture called “Evolve by Lindsey McKeon.” According to McKeon, ‘Evolve’ is a place to gather advice about health & wellness, diet, lifestyle, and relationships. “A community where you can share your journey, what has worked for you, and what you're still struggling with so we can all help one another grow and heal.” she states. “This is a place where I will share my knowledge about alternative healing for the mind, body, and spirit.” You can visit McKeon’s new blog “Evolve By Lindsey” here.

While it is a toss-up whether TV series’ based on movies work or not, there is potential with Training Day. As a fan of gritty crime dramas, it will be interesting to see the similarities between the movie and TV show. However, it will be more interesting and exciting to see how the show breaks off from the movie and forges its own path.

Watch Training Day every Thursday at 10 P.M. on CBS.
