As some of you know, I decided to publish a book in the year 2000 and made a goal of 100 rejection letters because Dr. Seuss got 43 for his first story. To date I am at 32 rejections for various manuscripts. Then on January 1, 2016 I started a weekly blog which gave me a reason to write consistently and I turned the first year of that blog into a book entitled The Treasure You Seek.

My book links went live on June 14 and I spent that evening and the next day, June 15, sharing the news in my network.

My grandma was always one of my biggest supporters and I was very close to her. I wrote something about her when I was 14 and it was read at her funeral in Ireland five years later. The day she passed away was a flashbulb memory for me because although we only met ten times during my childhood, it was during ten trips visiting her in Ireland and we spent a lot of time together. She always made me feel like I could do anything.

And the 25th anniversary of her passing was June 15. The day my book dream became a reality.

What happened to me this past week reminded me that anyone can do anything. If you put your mind to it, embrace failure and never give up you can make your dreams come true.

As mythologist and writer Joseph Campbell once said, "The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek." I know it held mine. What is the treasure you seek and what are you waiting for?
