Mercury Retrograde has been linked to communication breakdowns, technological difficulties, delays and an unlucky time to sign contracts.
But that is not what Mercury Retrograde is really about.
Understanding Mercury Retrograde
The planet Mercury is said to rule over communication. Not just what we communicate but also how we communicate.
When Mercury slips into retrograde, which happens at least three to four times each year, he offers a different energy, which allows us to become better and more thoughtful communicators.
If we are not paying attention, if we are skimming over facts or details, if we are rushing through life, it often comes to a head during a Mercury Retrograde cycle.
In many ways, Mercury Retrograde brings to the surface all the deeper thought processes and feelings that we have been ignoring and highlights them to us. In many ways, Mercury Retrograde allows us to see the truth.
When Mercury moves into retrograde, he shifts from shining his energy onto the external, physical world and instead, shines it onto the internal, spiritual world.
This allows Mercury’s energy to venture deep into our souls to reveal and bring to the surface our truth, hidden information and how we really feel about something.
How to Work with Mercury Retrograde Energy
Problems arise on Mercury Retrograde when we do not allow enough time for Mercury to reveal all that it needs to show us.
This is often why contracts signed under a Mercury Retrograde eventually need to be re-signed or re-negotiated. It is also why communication issues can occur as well.
All of this energy is due to the fact that Mercury is helping to bring the truth to the surface, and acting without exploring or digging into this truth can sometimes bring up issues.
Mercury Retrograde is a time to go within, it is a time to connect with the voice of your soul and work out how you truly feel about something.
Mercury Retrograde is not an unlucky time, in fact, it is a very powerful time that can help you to get real with yourself.
The only thing that Mercury Retrograde requires from us is to go slow. We have to allow Mercury to do his work while in retrograde, so we can be delivered all the information we need to make the best decision for ourselves.
Mercury retrograde is also an excellent time to go back to things or reconnect with people from your past. This includes past business connections, past lovers and past friends.
If you are aligned with Mercury’s energy there usually is no desire to enter into new things while he is in retrograde.
In fact, Mercury Retrograde can cause us to feel withdrawn or perhaps even contemplative about our lives and how we are choosing to express ourselves.
So, Mercury Retrograde may bring delays or communication breakdowns, but these are really Mercury’s way of reminding you to go slow down and that more information needs to be revealed before proceeding forward.
If you dare to go within, if you allow the truth in, then Mercury Retrograde periods should always be something to look forward to and nothing to fear.
