We have no idea where Casey Kasem is, Michael Ginsberg cut off his nipple, and Solange Knowles beat up her brother-in-law in an elevator (presumably about the first two things I mentioned). We live in such a crazy world. That's why it's so nice to have television, film, and theatre to help us escape the daily trials and tribulations and help drown out the outside noise. For the next few weeks, A-Sides with Jon Chattman will be focusing on theatre since the Tony Awards are staring us right smack dab in the face like a Tom Hooper Les Miserables close-up. First up is Nick Cordero, who is literally and figuratively each night as Cheech, a mobster with a knack for writing hit shows, in Bullets Over Broadway - Woody Allen's adaptation of his 1994 comedy classic. Cordero has received Tony, Drama Desk, and Drama League nominations for the role, and just picked up an Outer Critics Circle Award. In an A-Sides interview filmed earlier this month at the Hyatt Time Square, Cordero fielded my zany questions like the pro he is, and also discussed the show, meeting Woody Allen, and how his life has changed since landing the biggest role of his career. Afterall - and not to bury the lede - this is the first Broadway part the actor has originated. While he has boatloads of stage credits, prior to Bullets, Cordero's only Broadway credit was playing boozing club owner Dennis in Rock of Ages. Get ready IBDB, Cordero's stats are about to increase year to year from here on out. Anyway, watch the interview below, and catch him in the show. Filmed by shootmepeter.com.

About A-Sides Music
Jon Chattman's "A-Sides Music" series was established in August 2011 and usually features artists (established or not) from all genres performing a track, and discussing what it means to them. This informal series focuses on the artist making art in a low-threatening, extremely informal (sometimes humorous) way. No bells, no whistles -- just the music performed in a random, low-key setting followed by an unrehearsed chat. In an industry where everything often gets overblown and over manufactured, I'm hoping this is refreshing. Artists have included: fun, Rob Zombie, Pharrell Williams, Courtney Love, American Authors, Imagine Dragons, Gary Clark Jr., Andrew W.K., and more! A-Sides theme written and performed by Blondfire.
