Watch An Acid Attack Survivor Fully See The World For The First Time In A Year

Soheila Jorkesh lost vision in her right eye due to the attack.

An acid attack survivor has regained her eyesight, and her reaction to seeing the world around her says it all.

Soheila Jorkesh was driving in Isfahan, Iran, when she was maimed last year as part of a series of acid attacks on women who are believed to have been targeted because they didn't have "proper" veiling, according to Agence France-Presse. Because of the attack, Jorkesh lost her vision in her right eye.

But after a series of operations outside of Iran, the survivor has been regaining her sight. A video uploaded earlier this month to Facebook page My Stealthy Freedom documents the moments she's able to see natural wonders once again.

"Thank you God! ... The sky! I was missing you, sky. Oh, the blue sky," an emotional Jorkesh says in the video, according to a HuffPost translation. "It's immensely beautiful -- The sky, the trees. God."

According to BuzzFeed News, the video was first shared by the survivor's family before it was posted to the My Stealthy Freedom Facebook page, which was created by journalist Masih Alinejad and features pictures of women alongside a description of their personal choices regarding the veil.

The journalist noted that while Jorkesh has been regaining her sight, many other acid attack victims still need medical care, according to BuzzFeed.
