Whether you are preparing for the Zombie Apocalypse or you just want to have the tactical advantage when the preverbal shit hits the fan, you can never be too prepared. In honor of the Fourth of July and to help my readers keep their tactical advantage, I decided to get my hands on the basics; pants, jacket, socks, boots, some packs, a flashlight and a knife...almost forgot, a belt to keep my pants up so I can stay in the fight!
First and foremost, let me begin by saying that although I’m sharing some tactical attire and items here, I am not saying that if you have these items, you should confront the bad guys. I am also not here to debate constitutional rights to bear arms or whether people should or should not have firearms in the United States.
With that said however, please, unless you are a trained professional with authority to do so, do not engage the bad guys. Consider seeking cover and trying to stay calm and safe while the pros in uniform handle the threats. With that disclaimer behind me, let me mention that if you are trained and it is your profession to serve and protect, these are some amazing pieces of equipment to outfit yourself with and before I continue, allow me to graciously thank you for your selfless service.
From my perspective, in the entertainment business, the items that I unboxed today provide a realistic aspect for wardrobe and props; ergo, my review of these items from FirstTactical.com which I reviewed at the instruction of Bill Goldberg for consideration of placement in the upcoming film Bauer. I do have a pretty cool job, right?
I started with two backpacks; a large 3-day version with plenty of pockets and straps to attach utility pouches. In my case, a fancy badass looking bag with plenty of places to stick my iPad, Sprint iPhone, coconut waters and a bottle of It's a 10 to keep my hair right. Even in the midst of battle, I gotta look right! Maybe even attach a Lux Puff for good measure; if they can make me a camo one like they did for Danielle Harris of Dragon Armory. Yes, I take good hygiene and plenty of wet wipe storage very serious. For the shorter tours of duty, I grabbed the crosshatch sling pack. Both of the bags had an amazingly thick and soft pad built into the back of the pack to make it comfortable when wearing on your back. I'm confident that these are two of the best tactical packs I have seen since I started using items of this nature routinely for over 15 years ago. They are rugged, built to last, made with great attention to detail and designed to help maintain a tactical advantage through preparedness and having supplies and equipment securely stored and at the ready.

Once I have my backpack and my supply cache covered, the next most important part is my feet. For this purpose, I chose 6” performance socks and 6” side zip duty boots. The socks were extremely comfortable and the boots felt light, flexible and had good circulation. The pants that I chose were a pair called Tactix. The material was sturdy, yet breathable, and with plenty of pockets. Obviously designed by somebody who has spent time in the field, wearing pants. As opposed to somebody who spent time in the field without wearing pants. Make sense? Alrighty then…The pants were secure at the waist and the stitching and seams were soft against my skin. The BDU belt had a strong clasp and fit the belt loops precisely. When combined with the First Tactical jacket, medium duty flashlight and diamondback tanto pocket knife, I felt ready to battle the elements and the occasional undead on this year’s Fourth of July Zombie Apocalypse.
