Adam Lambert Responds To Anti-Gay Petition With 'Spectacular' Promise

The pop star says he's "a uniter, not a divider."

Adam Lambert isn't letting homophobia get him down this holiday season.

In a lengthy Facebook post, the "American Idol" veteran, 33, responded to a petition that had been created with the aim of getting his New Year's Eve performance in Singapore canceled. Supporters of the now-closed petition, which was addressed to the concert's organizer, MediaCorp, and the Singapore government, said that the openly gay singer's headlining gig at the Celebrate 2016 concert would be out of line with the country's values. Over 20,000 people signed the petition.

In a post that appeared on Warner Music Singapore's official Facebook page, Lambert vowed that his Celebrate 2016 set "will not only be a spectacular one, it will celebrate the entire human family in all its diversity."

He also responded to the news on Nov. 27, with a simply-worded tweet.

Lambert's Facebook post links to a rival petition in support of his performance, which garnered over 24,000 signatures before it, too, was closed.

The petition's organizers wrote that they were opposed to the "obvious sexual orientation discrimination" that the pop star was facing, and added, "We support real family values and real Singaporean values by being modern and inclusive."

Lambert, who is touring in support of his latest album, "The Original High," is no stranger to controversy. He made headlines in 2009 with his sexually-charged American Music Awards performance of "For Your Entertainment," in which he surprised his male keyboard player with an onstage smooch.

Keep on fighting the good fight, Adam, and stay proud!
