Thinking about starting a family? Ever think about adopting? Understanding the difference between surrogacy, private adoption, closed adoption, open adoption or adopting through your state can be overwhelming at first. Don't get discouraged. Somewhere out there is a child who needs love, acceptance and a home.

We were told many horror stories about the foster/adoption certification process. Most cases take years to move from a foster situation to adoption. Some adoption agencies are set up to work closely with the LGBT community. For a gay couple like us, adoption was the right way to go. We felt good about reducing the number of children nationwide in the foster system which currently stands at over 400,000.

We encourage everyone thinking about starting or adding to their family to consider adoption.
