Aly Raisman's Parents Are Back And Squirmier Than Ever

We are all Aly Raisman's parents.

There have been many incredible moments for the U.S. women’s gymnastics team at the 2016 Summer Olympics thus far. But one gymnastics highlight that’s making the internet rounds is not about a specific Olympian or her routines ― but rather her parents.

Aly Raisman’s parents have attracted a lot of attention for the way they react while watching their daughter compete. Lynn and Rick Raisman tend to squirm around very anxiously during Raisman’s routines, acting like ... well, nervous parents.

So, during Thursday’s competition, they became a meme. Naturally.

The Raismans first made headlines for their stressed-out spectator behavior during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. This week, videos of them watching Aly compete in Rio have gone certifiably viral, with view counts in the multimillions across Facebook.

As Aly competed in the women’s team all-around final on Tuesday, her parents were on hand in all their fidgety glory.

Twitter users posted videos and screenshots of the Raismans from NBC’s primetime coverage.

The NBC Olympics Facebook page also posted a snap of the endearingly nervous mom in the stands. We can only hope another amazing video will follow.

In an interview with People, Lynn Raisman explained why she gets so anxious watching her daughter at competitions. “I get nervous because I know what goes into it and how many hours she’s prepared and how hard she is on herself, and I want her to be happy and go out there and do the best performance she can do,” she said.

“So when it’s over, she is happy no matter the results, so I do get nervous. But whatever she was doing I want her to have the best outcome,” she added.

Now that the U.S. women’s gymnastics team has claimed the gold medal, we hope Lynn and Rick can finally breathe ... until the individual competition is over, that is.
