In a timely new essay for Glamour about the challenges of motherhood, Amber Tamblyn revealed that she is expecting her first child with her husband, David Cross.

The 33-year-old actress has been contributing to the magazine this election season, previously authoring a powerful condemnation of Donald Trump’s unrelenting misogyny in light of the many sexual assault allegations against the Republican presidential nominee.

Writing about how sharing her own experience with sexual assault allowed her mother to do the same, Tamblyn explored the the legacy of the “boys will be boys” mentality that’s handed down from one generation of women to another.

“Motherhood has been heavily on my mind because I am going to be a mother soon. I’m pregnant, with a daughter on the way,” Tamblyn wrote. “Is it possible to protect her from inheriting this pain? How much do I have to do, as a daughter and a soon-to-be mother, to change not just the conversation about how women are seen, but the language with which conversations are spoken in?”

After dating for five years, Tamblyn and Cross tied the knot in 2012. Despite their nearly 20-year age difference, the TV veterans have made their relationship work, regularly poking fun at each other on the red carpet and supporting their various ventures.

“I was slow to make any moves because of our age difference, and also because she was a fan,” Cross said in 2012 of their in-flight courtship. The two apparently overcame these challenges during the flight and ended up bonding over their shared joy of SkyMall catalogs.

And the rest is history.
