Ann Druyan, Creative Force Behind 'Cosmos,' Explains Revival Of Landmark Show (VIDEO)

Famed astrophysicist Carl Sagan inspired a generation with his 1980 television series "Cosmos."

Now, 34 years later, the series has been revived, thanks in large part to the efforts of Sagan's widow Ann Druyan, who co-wrote the original 'Cosmos' with Sagan and worked as an executive producer and writer for the series' revival.

Druyan came on HuffPost Live to discuss the years she spent bringing her late husband's series back to life.

"I feel like 'Cosmos' is riding that moment when the pendulum is swinging back our way, when everyone has just had enough of magical thinking," she said. "The whole world is kind of reawakening to the power of the scientific perspective and the importance of logic and reason."

She warned of the dangers that may come from ignoring science, especially when it comes to solving what she called the "horrendous challenge of global warming." Just check it out in the video above.

As for the selection of Neil deGrasse Tyson as host? She said that was a no-brainer:

"He was my one and only choice. That beautiful story of Carl reaching out to him when he was a teenager in the Bronx was for me a touchstone for the whole series. It was about the multi-generational relationships of the community of science and how we build each generation with new knowledge."
