"The 15K was easy."
That's how 9-year-old Milla Star Bizzotto described a competitive obstacle course she completed to the online outlet Mud Run Guide.
The third-grader completes these courses alongside her dad, Christian Bizzotto, who trains people for similar competitive races. She tackled her first BattleFrog obstacle race event (a 15-kilometer race designed by Navy SEALs for adults) in November, and on March 4, she took on her biggest event yet: BattleFrog's 24-hour Xtreme race in Miami.
Bizzotto had to get special permission from BattleFrog to participate in the event, and according to the Miami Herald, she was the only competitor under 18 to take on the 8-kilometer course made up of 25 obstacles. She reportedly finished six laps and slept between 2 and 6 a.m.
Lara Bizzotto, Milla's mother (who is divorced from her father), told the Miami Herald that she supports her daughter's hobby and noted that the 9-year-old "loves" it.
"I don’t think you should set limits on people, much less children," she said.
Bizzotto raised money to run the course on GoFundMe. Her fundraising page says she wants to spread #InspirationForTheIPadGeneration as well as motivate kids to stand up to their bullies. Being bullied actually sparked her fitness hobby and inspired her to help others.
“I didn’t want anyone else to go through what I did," she told the Miami Herald. "I want to set an example and show other kids that they can do or be anything they want.”
Take that, bullies.
