A powerful hashtag is shining a light on what it means to be at the intersection of black and Muslim identity.
#BeingBlackAndMuslim was started in February 2014 on Twitter by the Muslim Anti-Racism Collaborative (MuslimARC), which encouraged users to share their reflections on identity, history, politics and culture as black Muslims.
#BeingBlackAndMuslim means sometimes being erased from conversations on both Islam and Blackness. But always belonging to both.

On Tuesday, MuslimARC launched the conversation for the fourth year in a row โ and the insights about what it means to be black and Muslim in Trumpโs America are especially poignant.
Twitter users shared observations on the lack of visibility in the media, and being seen as โless Muslimโ because of their blackness.
