Bill Carter: NYT Buyout Offer 'Pretty Attractive By Print Journalism Standards'

NYT Buyout Apparently 'Pretty Attractive'

Veteran New York Times TV reporter Bill Carter discussed his decision to take a buyout during an interview with HuffPost Live's Josh Zepps on Tuesday.

"They put out a buyout offer and if you'd been there [at least] 20 years, as I had been, it was pretty attractive -- I mean, by print journalism standards," Carter said.

Carter joined The Times in 1989. His 25 years of reporting qualified him for a buyout offer that included three weeks' pay for every year he worked at the paper, plus an extra 35 percent of his total severance.

Carter added that he's "getting some feelers" about his next move and shared his plans for the book he's contracted to write next.
