Dad's Message To His 2-Year-Old Daughter Will Melt Your Heart (VIDEO)

As we commemorate the beginning of a new year, it's important to celebrate the important things in life, particularly our loved ones. If you need inspiration, just take a look at dad Bill Griepenstroh's adorable video message to his daughter.

The short video, titled "My Little Girl," poignantly sums up Griepenstroh's emotional evolution as a father.

"I loved her from the moment I laid eyes on her," the father told viral curator Storyful of his 2-year-old daughter. "All I wanted to do was hold her and protect her from everything. "

It's a beautiful piece, due in no small part to Griepenstroh's skills as a freelance videographer. But the dad said the video was a true labor of love.

"I was inspired to make this video when I realized my daughter was growing out of the baby stage and turning into a little girl, whether I was ready or not," he told The Huffington Post in an email. "I wanted to make a video that communicated how I feel about my little girl in a powerful way, while encapsulating how adorable I find her to be right now. I was also hoping to create something that would be special to her when she's older- a video that will always remind her of how much I love her."

Griepenstroh noted that the best part about being a dad are the moments that just kind of sneak up on you.

"Unfortunately, it's easy to let those moments pass by as we get caught up in day-to-day life," he told HuffPost. "Sometimes you just really have to ask yourself as a dad, 'What's more important?' At the end of your life you won't care about how many projects you finished or how much football you watched, you'll care about the time you spent with those that you loved."
