D'Angelo Honors Prince With Touching Cover Of 'Sometimes It Snows In April'

With the help of Maya Rudolph's Prince cover band.

D'Angelo is the latest star to honor Prince, the music icon who died last week at the age of 57.

The singer delivered a soulful and touching tribute to the late, great music icon on "The Tonight Show" yesterday with a little help from Princess, Maya Rudolph and Gretchen Lieberum's Prince cover band.

Dressed in Prince garb -- a furry coat, hat and even curled locks of hair -- the R&B singer performed a pitch-perfect cover of "Sometimes It Snows in April." Toward the end of the song, D'Angelo gets overwhelmed with emotion and even appears to shed a few tears.

As an artist, D'Angelo has no doubt been hugely influenced by Prince. His 2000 song, "Untitled (How Does It Feel)" was considered a tribute to the "Purple Rain" singer, evoking his early ballads. D'Angelo also sampled the drums from Prince's "Africa" and covered the B-side "She's Always in My Hair."

Watch his touching tribute above.
