Only Trump’s Antics Could Make Daniel Radcliffe Give Voldemort A Backhanded Compliment

The boy who threw shade.

It’s a good day for Voldemort when Harry Potter (aka Muggle-born Daniel Radcliffe) draws distinctions between He Who Must Not Be Named and real-life supervillain Donald Trump.

Voldemort be like ... I’m not that bad, right?

The Republican presidential nominee has been regularly compared to the Dark Lord throughout election season ― hair issues aside ― but if there’s one person to decide how one stacks up against the other, it’s Potter.

According to Radcliffe, the comparison is “certainly not without its merits,” but the actor considers his former arch-nemesis to be far more consistent than Trump, who lies with more frequency than a kindergartner with a kleptomania.

“I sort of think Donald Trump might not be as ideologically pure as Voldemort,” Radcliffe told SkyNews on the red carpet of Empire Live. “My thing on Trump is that he feels like more of an opportunist — like I don’t know how much of this stuff he’s saying he actually, really, really believes ... He hides behind the sort of thing of, ‘Oh I’m just an entertainer.’”

Earlier this year, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling also weighed in on the debate and decided that Trump was unequivocally worse than her most twisted creation after he called for a total shutdown on Muslims entering the United States.

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims ― 1.6 billion members of an entire religion ― from entering the U.S.
