Civil Rights Museum Rejects Donald Trump's VIP Visit Request

Co-founder says Trump team was "bullying us to use the museum in their manner."

A civil rights museum in Greensboro, North Carolina, denied Donald Trump a VIP visit, calling his team rude and demanding, WFMY reported.

Trump’s campaign had reached out to The International Civil Rights Center and Museum for exclusive treatment, requesting that the museum be closed for at least five hours to accommodate the visit, according to the station.

“The approach, the type of disrespect ... pretty much a demand and bullying us to use the museum in their manner and their way in their time ― it was inappropriate and I think it’s probably reflective of the type of insensitivity of civil rights and human rights that’s reflective of Mr. Trump over the years,” museum co-founder Earl Jones said.

Uproxx called the proposed visit “part of his faux black-outreach plan” when he campaigned in North Carolina last week.

While there, Trump stuck his foot in his mouth when he said that black communities have never been in worse shape, apparently ignoring a history of mistreatment and slavery.

Jones told WFMY that the museum does not accommodate special-treatment requests for anyone, but both Trump and Hillary Clinton are welcome to visit as regular patrons.

The Trump campaign didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
