GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump took a unique approach to political fundraising at the Republican National Convention, offering a spot on the big screen above his head in exchange for campaign donations.

Trump’s campaign sent out an email to supporters on Tuesday, urging them to donate so their names can appear onscreen when the New York real estate mogul takes the stage to give his acceptance speech.

“Are you with me?” the email asks. “As I took the convention stage to introduce my beautiful wife, I looked up to the jumbotron and was proud to see names of my tremendous supporters on the screen. It would be an honor to see your name when I take the stage on Thursday.”

Trump has largely self-funded his campaign up to this point, and has raised far less than previous candidates at this stage of a presidential campaign. As of June, his campaign had raised about $41 million dollars less than presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

Tuesday’s fundraising email suggests the campaign may finally be taking a more business-minded approach to making money, instead of banking on Trump’s political appeal.

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims ― 1.6 billion members of an entire religion ― from entering the U.S.
