A Fourth of July fireworks display in Plymouth, Massachusetts, ended abruptly after a technical glitch caused every remaining rocket to go off at once.

Video footage shows dozens of fireworks exploding simultaneously in the sky above the waterfront at 10:30 p.m. on Monday night, just 15 minutes into the pyrotechnical show.

"My heart dropped when it happened," witness John Griffith, who posted footage of the incident to Twitter, told The Huffington Post on Tuesday morning.

"I knew there were a lot of guys out there working," Griffith added.

Incredibly, no injuries were reported.

Julia Nittler, who also witnessed the incident, told NBC 10 News there was a bang that "shook the whole Earth" for a few seconds. "It was wild, whatever happened."

Two barges from where the fireworks were being lit suffered a "malfunction," according to the Plymouth Police Department.

Malfunction caused fire on first barge. Second barge had another malfunction. No injuries occurred. Fire Marshall is investigating.

A fire began on one of the barges and it may have spread to the second, WCVB reports.

Firefighters extinguished the blazes within 10 minutes and the State Fire Marshall's office is now investigating the incident.

It's not the first time that premature explosions have rocked a fireworks display.

San Diego's Fourth of July fireworks celebrations suffered a similar fate in 2012 and the Oban bonfire in Scotland went up in just 30 seconds in 2011.
