Focus on Your Desires

Can I find a formula that will allow me to focus on what I want to be without always getting distracted or second-guessing myself or doubting myself? Is there really a way that I can successfully make my dreams come true? For the first time in my life, I believe that I can.

Shortly after I got up this morning, I managed to kick into one of the legs on the bed. The pain in my toe was unbelievable but I thought that it would pass in a short period of time and I proceeded with my day. I had some errands to run and I started to wonder whether I could do them as by now I was feeling pain with each step but I kept on going. As I was driving, I was so focused on the pain that I actually missed my turn onto the street that I needed. And while I wanted to shop for something for an event that is coming up next weekend, I could not concentrate enough to do so because of the pain that was happening with each step so I headed home.

As I then prepared something to eat, something dawned on me as I once again had trouble focusing on what I was doing because of the distracting pain. What if I could find a way to focus on the things that I wanted to accomplish in the same way that I was focusing on the pain that I was feeling in my foot? Can I find a formula that will allow me to focus on what I want to be without always getting distracted or second-guessing myself or doubting myself? Is there really a way that I can successfully make my dreams come true? For the first time in my life, I believe that I can.

I decided to take a few minutes to once again put my goal into words and write it down on paper. I realized that I need to repeat this goal over and over and over in my mind every single day. I decided that whenever I start to doubt myself, I will think about that goal and allow myself to be confident in the belief that I can accomplish anything. And I promise myself that although I may not know all of the details that will eventually frame my reaching that goal, it will happen.

Of course, reaching a goal may seem to be very difficult. There are always the thoughts about not having the money that you need, not having the time to work on whatever that dream may be and being concerned about having to work another job in order to pay the bills and put food on the table. However, if you really want to reach that dream, you will find the way, the time and whatever else is needed in order to do so.

For me, after today, the catalyst for my getting back on track whenever I start to doubt or lose hope or not believe in myself will be not only repeating the goal but also picturing my sore foot with the now black and blue middle toe. I will remind myself that all I need is to continue my focus on that dream and know that I really can make my wish come true. We can do anything, be anything, reach whatever goals we want if only we believe and continue to focus on those dreams. For me, an injured foot has become my new reminder.
