Gordon Klingenschmitt, the former Navy chaplain turned Republican state representative who has continually made headlines for his right-wing, homophobic declarations, is back with yet another vehemently anti-gay diatribe.
Klingenschmitt, who was elected to the Colorado State Senate last November, blasted the Boy Scouts of America's newly-revised policy on openly gay adult leaders in the Aug. 23 installment of his "Pray in Jesus Name" radio program, Right Wing Watch reports. It isn't the first time that Klingenschmitt has rallied against the organization's updated, yet still controversial, criteria. This time, however, he seemed determined to expand upon his earlier claims that the policy would lead to "child abuse."
In the new broadcast, he clarifies that he doesn't think all gay men are pedophiles, but instead, believes that two unique satanic forces are "at play" behind homosexuality and pedophilia, respectively.
"There is, of course, a demon of homosexuality in those who openly parade their sodomy in the streets," he said. "But then, there's a different demon of child molesting that is inside some of these reported molesters."
Having accused the Boy Scouts of "thumbing their nose at God" by promoting "homosexual men to mentoring and camping with your boys" last month, he doesn't back down on that argument entirely, and believes there is some overlap.
"All the child molesters in the Boy Scouts are homosexual," he said. "And how can I tell that? Very simple, it's logical. There were no girls in the tents."
Of course, Klingenschmitt has made no secret of his opposition to LGBT rights over the years. Prior to his elected stint, he argued in favor of discrimination against the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, noting, "If your heart is full of corruption or sin or immorality -- in this case, homosexuality -- then you should be discriminated against."
He's also stated he believes that everyone is born straight, but that some people are "recruited" and "deceived" into identifying as LGBT through corporate marketing.
"The marketing of homosexuality has an agenda, and that is to repopulate their population by recruiting the children of heterosexuals," he said.
You lost the Boy Scouts battle, Gordon. Probably time to move on.
