HBO had another spectacular Emmys night on Sunday, as the network took home the top prizes: “Game of Thrones” won Outstanding Drama Series, while “Veep” earned the title of Outstanding Comedy Series.
The casts and crews of all the major HBO shows, movies and programs were on hand to celebrate their successes at a post-awards reception at the Plaza at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, and The Huffington Post was there to take in all the action.
The room was lit with a blue tint as huge fountains lined the middle of the outdoor ballroom. Bars were scattered across the area and tables reserved for HBO talent sat center stage. Stars like Kit Harington, Minnie Driver, Jaime King and George R.R. Martin mingled with the crowd while others took to the dance floor.
But it was the “Game of Thrones” squad who huddled together to cheers to their big win, chatting to each other while acknowledging the presence of the walkers fans among them. Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who also won an Emmy for Writing for a Drama Series, were all smiles as they sipped a drink and enjoyed some downtime with friends and colleagues, including Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Gwendoline Christie, Sophie Turner, Rory McCann, Iwan Rheon, Maisie Williams and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
All in all, it was a pretty stellar night for “GoT” and HBO.
