Reince Priebus Says A Hillary Clinton Presidency Would Be Tainted

WASHINGTON ― A Hillary Clinton presidency would be unable to unify the country because of Clinton’s supposed criminal conduct, the chairman of the Republican National Committee suggested Sunday.

“She’s going to have a hard time healing the country because, No. 1, she’s not going to win,” Reince Priebus said on ABC News. “But No. 2, even if she does, she may have committed serious crimes.”

Host George Stephanopoulos pointed out that the FBI had reviewed Clinton’s use of a private email server as secretary of state and concluded earlier this year that she hadn’t broken the law.

“That’s their conclusion so far, but they’re also actively reviewing 650,000 emails,” Priebus said, referring to an ongoing review FBI Director James Comey announced last month.

“The investigation is continuing,” Priebus said. “And, look, I think the American people have serious concerns about it. I would. And I think most people do. And they think that, obviously, this is going to be a big liability for her.”

In the likely event Clinton prevails on Election Day, Priebus’ comment is a preview of how Republicans would treat a Clinton administration ― as illegitimate.

Comey said in a letter to Congress last month that the bureau was looking at newly discovered emails but “the FBI cannot yet assess whether or not this material may be significant, and I cannot predict how long it will take us to complete the additional work.”

Later on Sunday, Comey told Congress the investigation wouldn’t result in charges against Clinton.
