Homemade Ranch Dressing Mix - Put This Stuff in Everything!

Americans have a love of ranch. I'm not talking about some kind of fleeting "Do you like me? Check yes or no" kind of love. No, no, this is more of the "I want to have your children and live happily ever after" kind of love.

Homemade ranch dressing mix is probably one of the easiest things in the world to make. You'll be making this stuff at least once a week!

Americans have a love of ranch.

I'm not talking about some kind of fleeting "Do you like me? Check yes or no" kind of love. No, no, this is more of the "I want to have your children and live happily ever after" kind of love.

Did that just get weird? Let's back up a bit.

We love ranch. I think that most little kids - and probably a good portion of adults - only eat salad because of ranch dressing. Carrots? Dip 'em in ranch. Broccoli? Made better with ranch. Celery? Well, nothing makes celery edible (sorry, it's true), but ranch might just come closest to getting the job done. We even go so far as create ranch popcorn recipes. That's some ranch love, right there.

But do you know what I don't love? The fact that the second ingredient listed on a package of ranch dressing mix is salt. And they aren't kidding, either. If you take a moment to taste the mix by itself, you will be hard-pressed to taste anything besides the salt. It overpowers any of the herbs and spices that actually make ranch dressing taste good.

Luckily, this is something that we can remedy quickly and easily at home. In fact, I would be willing to bet that you have at least 90% of these ingredients in your pantry already. Unlike some of our homemade fixes, which - while endlessly more delicious than the original - can be a bit time consuming (my Homemade Little Debbie Valentine Cakes come to mind), I promise that this Homemade Ranch Dressing Mix recipe will take you less than 5 minutes to make.

How will you use your Homemade Ranch Dressing Mix? Any way that you want! Personally, I would head straight for these Cream Cheese Ranch Roll-Ups (although Vegetable Pizza is always a solid option, too), but any recipe that calls for a package of ranch dressing mix is a great place to start. Simply use 3 tablespoons of homemade mix in place of a standard package of the store-bought stuff for a flavor your family will love.
