Spare a thought for the Insta-famous who deal with this every day.
Post a picture to a low-key Instagram account, and you'll get some likes. But upload an image to one with millions of fans, and the push notifications take over your locked phone.
Dutch soccer player Demy de Zeeuw demonstrates what happens in video posted to Facebook on Sunday:
"When you post epic content on Instagram.com/433 8 million followers, this is how your pushnotification will look like," he wrote.
Dozens of alerts pop up every second. The user names are a blur, leaving De Zeeuw to kick back and sip a drink as they flow in.
The 32-year-old played for AFC Ajax in the Netherlands and Spartak Moscow in Russia during a 14-year career, but is currently a free agent. According to the Evening Standard, he runs the Instagram account for the sports news app 433.
Although 8 million followers is a very impressive fan base, de Zeeuw has some way to go until he reaches the heights of Taylor Swift (62.5 million followers), Beyonce (56.6 million) or Justin Bieber (53.4 million).
